What are the requirements for a FormPro Server?

If you choose to have an on-premises server for your FormPro application, here is what you will need.

License key for FileMaker Pro 19

For the server we recommend:

  • MainSpring recommends GoDaddy’s standard SSL certificate as the cheapest/reliable option.
  • Other providers may work but the official supported list above are the guaranteed SSL providers that work with FileMaker Server.
  • Remote RDP Access
  • Must have administrative access to install software
  • Virtual firewall must allow connections for Ports 80, 443, 5003
  • RDP whitelist access

In advance of the cutover to the new version:

  • All users should have FileMaker 19 installed; this should not conflict with legacy FileMaker versions at all.
  • All users should have the configuration steps for “scribe plugin” installed.
  • All users should have the configuration steps for “Configure acrobat” performed.

User accounts:

  • Need an initial list of users to setup in FormPro. First Name, Last Name, Email Address for each user.
  • MainSpring will generate user accounts for everyone and provide the passwords for each user.
  • If users are administrators (can setup/delete/reset passwords for other accounts), those accounts should be designated.
  • MainSpring will provide custom connection directions once the new server is setup.

Other Considerations

  • The FileMaker server should be a dedicated instance, not a single server that is hosting the application and also remote desktop sessions for all of their users.

  • MainSpring needs unattended administrative access to the FileMaker server so that updates can be installed support for the application can be provided.

  • The server needs to communicate with our FormPro server through whatever local private network setup is configurde. This is mandatory so we can ensure they stay licensed for using FormPro and for delivery of new forms.
